Old Render Engine

RCA Microphone Type 77-DX

New PBR Render

RCA Microphone Type 77-DX

RCA Microphone Type 77-DX$20.00

Design notes:

Like the other microphones here, I resurfaced this model when Lightwave moved to a PBR (physically based rendering) engine and added the sound studio background. The new rendering engine does look better and gets results quicker under all lighting conditions with much less adjustment from scene to scene. The model comes with the microphone, table top and tall mic stand. The backgroud elements seen in the poster and video... the sound studio, equipment rack, monitor and audio mixer are not included. The RCA Type 77-DX microphone is a poly-directional ribbon microphone, or pressure-gradient microphone, introduced by the RCA Corporation in 1954. The 77-DX has been used on countless vocal recordings by Bing Crosby, Kate Smith, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Al Green, and many others. It is still sought after today for use in recording brass instruments.
